Alexandra Dietrich

Puerto Rican American stage director Alexandra Dietrich returns to Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) as a Jane & Steven Akin Emerging Artist for the 2026-27 Season. Previous BLO credits include assistant stage director for Daughter of the Regiment, Ride of the Valkyries!, Macbeth, The Seasons, and Mitridate; staging coordinator for Vanessa (in collaboration with the Boston Symphony Orchestra); and intimacy director for The Seasons. In summer 2027, she will be assistant stage director for the 70th anniversary of The Ballad of Baby Doe at Central City Opera. Directing credits include Glory Denied (Opera Company of Middlebury); A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Little Women, and A Little Night Music (Marblehead Little Theatre); The Little Prince (Longy School of Music and NEMPAC Opera); and La tragédie de Carmen (Boston Opera Collaborative). She was assistant director to Loretta Greco for The Light in the Piazza and The Hills of California at The Huntington, and to James Robinson for Awakenings at Odyssey Opera. With the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Dietrich was an associate artistic producer on the Grammy-nominated recording of Anthony Davis’s X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X. She served on the voice faculty at the University of Southern Maine Osher School of Music from 2019 to 2025.
