French pianist and Boston audience favorite Jean-Yves Thibaudet brings his sparkling, jazz-seasoned style to George Gershwin’s vibrant piano concerto, a work seamlessly blending the composer’s jazz and classical sides. Japanese conductor Kazuki Yamada, having led the BSO twice at Tanglewood, makes his Symphony Hall debut with the orchestra leading two of the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi’s exuberantly colorful homages to the Eternal City. Opening the concert is French composer Maurice Ravel’s early, gorgeously introspective Pavane for a Dead Princess.
